Getting By With A Little Help From My Friends

Friends of JCDS Reaches Out When the Chips are Down

It’s a simple fact that people with developmental disabilities typically don’t have a lot of money. Most have incomes at or below the poverty level and simply cannot cope when the circumstance of life put them in a bind. So Friends of JCDS has established a Special Assistance Fund to provide a safety net of emergency support where no other resources are available. From covering unexpected medical and dental expenses, to paying utility bills so a family isn’t left in the dark, Friends is there to extend a helping hand.

A Little Help From Friends

Dear Friends of JCDS . . .

“Thanks so much to the Friends of JCDS for your check towards therapeutic riding fees for Mohammad, Cassaundra and Katie. I know all of their families are so thankful to have your support, as is Heartland. It is a real pleasure to see these three young adults each week and know that they are gaining both physically and mentally from therapeutic riding.
Please convey our thanks to everyone who plays a part in the decision to help these families.”
Vicki B., Director, Heartland Therapeutic Riding

“This is a thank you from Dan and myself for considering him for financial assistance with his dental surgery, as his last remaining front tooth was very loose and his ability to chew was greatly diminished. Now, he has no problem in chewing his food adequately and the partial plate has also improved his appearance. Again, thank you!”
