2008 JCDS Awards & Recognition

  • JCDS successfully nominated the City of Olathe to receive the 2008 Kansas Inclusive Communities Award from InterHab, the statewide advocacy association for citizens with disabilities.
  • JCDS’s Executive Director, Maury Thompson, was selected to participate in the 2008 Leadership Kansas class. Leadership Kansas is a nationally recognized program that aims to develop and inspire future leaders for the state.
  • The JCDS 2006 Annual Report received a meritorious Award of Excellence from the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO).
  • Service Excellence Awards honored two JCDS Case Managers in 2008 for outstanding performance in helping to meet the complex support needs of Johnson County residents with DD and their families. The awards are given monthly by the County’s Community Developmental Disability Organization (CDDO), a division of JCDS.
  • Under the leadership of JCDS Executive Director Maury Thompson, 2008 Feed the Need Campaign Chairman, Johnson County Government shattered its own goal by raising 159.5 tons of food. JCDS staff also set a new record for Developmental Supports, raising nine tons of food for Johnson County food pantries.

2008 Friends of JCDS Awards & Recognition

  • Once Upon A Time, the recently-debuted Friends of JCDS video, was honored with a Pegasus Award of Excellence with a score of 91 out of 100. The Pegasus Awards were created by a group of eminent media production professionals to give individuals and organizations the opportunity to have their work reviewed by peers. Each entry is graded through five different elements, including direction and writing, camera/lighting/visuals, editing, audio and overall impact. You can view this video at http://www.youtube.com.
